LADIES PANEL PLAYER PROFILES 2005
.......BY DERMOT Mc MAHON
Aoife Moore - Nickname: Moorsie
A good young player has a great future in front of her. Has
the ability to ghost past defenders and take her scoring chance. Definitely one to keep an eye on for the future.
Carol Fitzpatrick - Nickname: CavanGirl
A new edition to the squad this year, and what a catch. A
remarkable full back who only has eyes for the ball and will win no matter who is in the way.
Christina Farrell - Nickname: Farreller (Macker)
One of the squad who is with us from the start. Missed a bit
of the season this year due to marrying a club stalwart but back in the frame for the end of the season and raring to go for next year.
Debbie Brophy - Nickname: Debs, Leftie
Debbie has for years been known for her sweet left foot.
This year she showed more that that for us. Her constant work off the ball and setting up scores shows a girl willing to learn new things to improve her game. Fitness was at it's best this year.
Denise Masterson - Nickname: Dennis, Ducksie
Denise, as her name suggests is a masterful player. She is a
natural footballer and gives 110% every time she plays and/or trains. A huge benefit to have in the club and unlucky not to have an All Ireland County medal in her pocket to add to her Leinster Medal.
Fidelma Hardiman - Nickname - Fi, Fidel
One girl who was thinking of packing it in at the start of the
season but who in the end has had her best season with mun to date. Scoring regularly and winning lost cause balls has shown that she has many years of football left in her yet.
Fiona Kearns - Nickname: Kearnser
Tenacious in the tackle. That sums our Kearnser up. Takes
no prisoners both from the opposition or her own team. Loves winning - HATES losing - a great competitor.
Jenny Brogan - Nickname: Jen,
Jenny's fitness has been extremely good this year and her
attitude to training and playing undisputed. A solid defender and midfielder her presence tends to concrete the defence. Well able to stand up for herself with the "Templemore Attitude".
Jennifer Redmond - Nickname: Jennifer Redmond.
Jennifer took a back seat this year but was always available
when we were stuck for numbers. Incredible record for scoring when brought on.
Justine Gardner - Nickname: Jussers
Corner back who's pace is a huge asset to the team. Has
learned to get the ball and do the basics. Very rarely misses training and would run all day for the team.
Karen Halpin. - Nickname: Blondie
Another natural footballer she has taken to football like a
basketballer to basketball. Speed and skill are her best attributes and her tackling this year has come on leaps and bounds.
Karen Maleady - Nickname: Madlady
Karen has made the transition from defender to forward this
year with remarkable results. Has put her name on the score sheet many a time and still retains her defensive abilities up front. A great debater.
Leona Fynes - Nickname: Stynsie.
Our goalkeeper and captain fantastic this year. Has
dominated her goal area and her presence and vocal capacity this year has improved enormously. Sometime thinks she's still in school when she request permission to ask a question, but undoubtedly has Kickhams blood running through her veins. Coincidentally, she is stepping out with the Hurling Captain and goalkeeper. You know what they say about goalkeepers…………
Liz Fynes - Nickname: Elizabeth
Started at corner back and made her way all the way up to
corner forward before settling in. Never gives up hope in the chase for the ball and has started scoring regularly too. Fitness will improve her game next season.
Melanie Wight (Captain): - Nickname: Smelly
Hard, determined, thorough, strong, confident. Just a few
words that can describe this player. Has had an amazing season. Wouldn't be out of place on any football team in the club.
Roisin Staunton: - Nickname: Ro, Absent
Roisin is a natural footballer who has represented Dublin at
Junior level. Can be brilliant but needs to see more of the training pitch with her teammates to make a perfect season for her next year.
Sue Brennan - Nickname: GI Jane.
This army girl only had a few matches with us this year due
to active service with the Irish Army. With her soccer playing experience and army training she has all the necessary attributes to be one f the best in the club. Can often be seen on the Curragh shooting rabbits.
Susan Ryan - Nickname: Ryaner, AC/DC
Ryaner is a young up and coming start. Never misses training
and loves the physical duty of marking Claire in training. Doesn't realise how good she is and next year she will be elevated to being a senior member of the squad.
Suzy Macken - Nickname: Miss Macken
Schoolteacher Suzy is a nippy forward with a fierce temper.
Well able to mind herself on the pitch, was unlucky with a bad injury this year, but is now back in the fold and raring to go. Oppossing teams watch out - it's always the small ones.
Claire Hogan - Nickname: Hogan Stand
A newcomer to the team she went straight in at half forward
and has claimed that place as her own. First love is basketball, but is always available when the mun makes the call. Never misses training and a great asset to the club.
Sinead Staunton - Nickname: Staunto
In and out of the squad this year, she is a class player who
can adapt to any position she is asked to play in. Next year, more concentration on training and she will join her sister in the Dublin set up.
Nicole Rock - Nickname: Rocky
A class player at a very young age. She does all her talking
on the pitch. Consistently strong and never misses training or matches. Definitely one to watch for the near future. Hopefully she will don the blue of Dublin soon.
