Nursery

The nursery continues to be a great success on a weekly basis.  Each week an average of between 35-50 children turn up to learn the skills and drills of Gaelic Games capably supervised by Leitrim’s finest James Glancy. James would specifically like to thank and acknowledge the dedication and commitment of Greg Flanagan who was the ‘keeper of the flame’ for so many years before stepping down this year.

James is greatly assisted by Orna and colm kelly as well as the many other parents that offer up there help without fail every single Sat. The nursery has been cancelled only once since Sept due to bad weather. Roughly around 6-8 parents give a hand with stations every week.
We start at 10am and run 5 or more stations depending on numbers and rotate them every 3 minutes or so. Everybody goes through the stations once and we finish with a match for all kids at the end.

So don’t forget if your son, daughter (or in fact any blood relation!) is 4 next year the Nursery is the only place to be on a Saturday morning ;-)

Under 8’s

This year’s Under 8’s embarked on their maiden season and happy to report all well. Under the diligent management of John Leonard, Fergus Conway and Niall Young they are going from strength to strength. However they can always do with extra help so if anyone has just 1 hr to spare next year to coach/train the team in football skills mid week please contact any of the managers or the Juvenile Committee.

Under 9’s

It was a good year for the team and club, who grew from 2 teams to 3 teams and we were able to field 3 teams all

year. All the kids developed throughout the year and improved their football skills.

We hope to spend next year developing each team and improving the standard of football.

We would also like to thank the parents who get the kids to training every Wednesday and Saturday and their support for the team.

Mgrs: Tony Brabazon, Gerry Staunton, Darren Fitzpatrick, Paul Ryan, and Eamonn McNamee

Under 10’s

It all began on a cold morning up in Pairc Ciceam. Seven brave souls made their way up that morning. Since then numbers have prospered at our training in Pairc Ciceam. Balcurris Park, Holy Spirit School and Poppintree Park. We now average about 21 for training and for matches. Last Saturday against O'Dwyers we numbered 25. We have played over ten matches against the likes of Whitehall, Fingal Ravens, Naomh Barrog, O'Dwyers, Erins Isle and Peregrines. We had notable victories against Naomh Barrog and Whitehall. The one against Naomh Barrog was the most pleasing as we had been defeated by them in our first outing. Eoin Dolan has been assisted by James Burke, Robert Shortall and Michael Lowther.

The team is going for strength to strength so hopefully we can keep up our steady improvement.

Special thanks too to Stevie O’Shea for all his work in keeping this team together in the early part of the season.

Under 11’s

More than holding their own in Group 1 North and benefitting from the coaching expertise of Anto Mc Caul and Derek Gibbons

Under 12’s

Very successful year for u-12s, beaten in the cup semi final by Na Fianna in April but proceeded to win the league (May-Oct) undefeated, dropping one point along the way in a drawn match and winning the rest. A lot of the team took part in the International Feile victory in Birmingham and the div 5 Feile victory at home. Many local schools are represented: Sacred Heart, OLV, Scoil an 7r laoch, Virgin Mary,St Pats Drumcondra plus secondary schools St Aidans ,St Kevins,Beneavin and Trinity Comp. The team also took part in the 2nd half of the season in u-13 div 6 for extra games, winning 5 out of 6 matches and approx 5 players played for jps u-13 div 3 team, winning league medals last week. The team have secured sponsorship with the Victory Credit Union this year and for the next two years also. Conor Kavanagh was chosen (right half back) on the North Dublin team that won the Easter Tournament in April 09' . The team just finished their season this week with an awards night and a medal presentation in the Autobahn. Caoimhin Duggan was chosen as player of the year with Paddy Small chosen as players' player of the year. This was followed by paintball in Santry- many players and management were shot in a floodlit massacre!!

Paddy Christie and Tomas Hayes managed the team and were assisted by parents Fergus Conway, Philip Thomas, Pat Brennan, Derek Swann,Declan Small and Twiggy Keeley.

Under 13’s

The all conquering Under 13’s season can best be summed up by their very impressive roll of honour:

U-13 div 5 grading league winners.

U-14 Feile div 5 winners.

U-13 div 3 league winners.

The treble!!

Managers: John Paul Carroll, Declan Kearns and Enda Dolan

Under 15’s

Another successful year for the U15's saw them clinch their second promotion in succession and they will finish off their juvenile campaign next year in Div 1 U16.

A great start to their Div 2 campaign laid the seeds for their promotion as well as very successful run in the A championship which culminated in a narrow defeat to St Sylvester's in the semi final.

Thanks as always to the players for all their effort and commitment throughout the year, ably guided by the management team of John Clinton, Dermot Mc Mahon, Vinny Kelly and Aidan Power

Under 16’s

The U16A footballers finished third in their league and were beaten in the championship final by Raheny. We would like to thank sincerely the lads and management of the under 15 squad for their assistance in helping us fulfil fixtures throughout the year. Their willingness to help out any time they were asked was very much appreciated and is what being a club is all about. Ollie Clinton stepped down after being with the squad since under 10. Thanks Ollie for all your efforts over the years.

Managers: Ollie Clinton and Terry Maguire
