LAOCH NA SEACHTAINE:

Heroes of the week? A bit of a no brainer this week to be honest. Every person involved in the cycle, from start to finish, from inception to the after party. It was an absolutely huge success and to cap it off for the cyclists to receive the welcome home they did was just the icing on the cake. A huge thank you to every person involved, the brave cyclists, our sponsors, both commercial and personal, the motorbike outriders, the van and car men, the small committee that ran it, the clubs up north, Creggan Kickhams and Clan Na Gael Lurgan, the magnificent staff in Carrickdale hotel. The staff of Cycland, who provided our specially commissioned jersey. The ladies behind the brilliant welcome home and the man behind the warm meal. The list is too much to mention names, but needless to say, when a small club like ours runs such an event, it’s everyone behind the wheel, and this event was no exception. Take a bow Ballymun Kickhams folk, you are collectively our Laoch Na Seachtaine! Maith sibh! A very proud weekend in the club indeed and one that will long live in the memories of all involved.

On the field of play, our minors had a brilliant display against Thomas Davis despite missing so many notable players and had a close defeat. The score does no justice to the teams performance. The outstanding players were Adam Thorpe, Jason Keating, Cameron McCormack and Ryan Murphy. Congratulations to Sean Tuke, Eamon Hill and Andrew McCaul who made Dublin’s U-17’s squad for Wednesday night’s game against Meath in championship.
