What an event that was, the miles were hard (so were the saddles) but these brave men ploughed on and completed a most difficult cycle indeed. Their tired bodies were greeted by hundreds of club supporters in Pc Ciceam, and this really was a fine ending to what was a momentous day in the club.

The task now, is to collect all the final sponsorship money in, and to let these warriors rest their weary bodies now! There are a huge amount of people and organisations to be thanked. Our main sponsors, Keelings, without whom, this event would have never got off the ground and we are greatly in your debt for such generous sponsorship. To all our other corporate sponsors, Kelly Bradshaw Dalton, AIG, Cycland, Mongey Plunkett motors, Rocfon, Bike 7, Cregan Kelly O’Brien and finally Linders motors Smithfield. To all that assisted us on the day, in particular Tony and Terry and all the lads in Creggan Kickhams for their hospitality, their friendship and their brotherhood. It won’t be forgotten. To the folk of Clan Na Gael Lurgan ¬†for allowing us use their facilities on the journey. To Elaine and the staff of Carrickdale hotel for your generosity, mile buichas. To the committee that ran it, Jonathon Rock, Dermot Leahy, Greg Flanagan and myself I suppose!!! To the magnificent support crew of Jonny, Frank, Keith and Pat and our brilliant motorbike marshals, Declan, Wayne and Jeff. Again, this would not have ran as successfully without your commitment and your brilliance! To the executive committee and chairman Declan Small who supported this venture from start to finish. To all the people who came and cheered us home and of course to Linda, Susan and Krzysztof for making it so brilliant, and finally, last but not least, to the cyclists and all their families, wives, girlfriends and children. The sacrifices you all made will send this day into the annals of club lore and it is one that I personally will never, ever forget. Maith sibh!

Of course, the object of this event was to raise badly needed funds for our pitch replacement. The sponsorship pages are being left up and open for a few more weeks, we think it’s fitting that you can still sponsor the great deeds of these fine people.
