| Ballymun Senior Panel 2007
Sean Curry (Chicken)
His superb shot stopping ability and missile like kick outs make him 1 of the best keepers around in senior football at the moment. Has recently fallen in love and developed a serious addiction to text messaging, hopefully this wont distract him too much this season!!
Donal Hardiman (Donie)
Has got himself fit this season and put him in contention to compete for the keeper’s jersey. An excellent shot stopper on his day and has the experience of competing at senior level for the past decade. Still not sure if he will ever get the ice machine working but…..
Thomas Hayes (Hayser)
The man from the rebel county is an old school no nonsense corner back. Have drawn comparisons from a lot of people of a young Phil O’Dea with his displays this season. The quiet man of the dressing room is the total opposite after a few frosty ones…snake pit take note!!
Collie Moore (Collie)
In his first full season with the seniors and is already 1 of the 1st names on the team sheet. Has added weight & strength to his make up this year, thanks to a diet of yops and nutirgrain bars.
Is willing to learn from the senior players both on & off the pitch, 1 for the future!!
Eoin Dolan (Fozz Junior)
Like his brothers, a tough tackling back who never strays past the half way line. This is probably just aswell as if we think back to Sylvester’s away last year. A Dublin u-21 panelist and will defog be in the mix for the first 15 next year. Has been known to enjoy the occasional pole dance in his spare time.
Declan Kearns (Kearnser)
This guy must be due a testimonial this year, he has been around the senior panel that long. Has suffered with injury to date and is an obvious loss to the full back line. A regular in Apachi pizza, he has never quite been the same since the bank link crew spilt up…….
Enda Dolan (Fozzy)
The skipper and what more can I say. Has led the team the past few seasons and will probably continue to do so fro the next few if he continues to play like he is playing. On his day 1 of the best full backs in Dublin. Spends a lot of his free time these days Skiing, Rumour has it he hopes to compete in the next winter Olympics……….
JP Carroll (Tackleberry)
His flowing brown locks make him the housewives favorite. He can operate in both the full back and half back line and looks equally at home in both. A left foot like Ryan gigs, this man can put the ball on top of six pence from any distance!! He is also 3rd choice keeper in case of emergencies!!
Alan Hubbard (Frank Ribery)
After giving up a successful modeling career, Alan has become the clubs great white hope. An underage star with Dublin, he was last seasons club player of the year which says it all. Can literally play anywhere on the pitch and not look out of place. A definite future Dublin senior….he is a small man with a big heart!!
James Bourke (Most Beautiful)
The man from Mayo brings more than his good looks to the senior panel. A fit and competitive wing back, his cultured left foot is probably more suited to sky sports than pairc ciceam. Representing Mayo this year in the u-21 so we should all be supporting them as our adopted county, especially since the dubs got beaten in round 1!!
Simon Lawlor (Lawless)
A converted soccer player who is the panel’s official entertainment manager. Has improved this season and is seeing the rewards of the hard work done in the gym. Best suited at wing back where he has been known to come up with the occasional spectacular score….
Paddy Christie (Christmas)
After returning from a groin operation the big man is getting back to his best. His experience is a huge plus to a panel this season and his warm downs and stretching are second to none. His late night Taxi service has also been of huge benefit on official club nights out….
Philip McMahon (O’Fish)
This years most improved player by far. The fact that Dublin u21s were beaten and he wasn’t involved says it all about underage football in this county. Another who can operate in almost any position on the pitch. Has the motivation to prove the Dubs wrong this year which can only help Ballymun…
Oliver j Clinton(Crouchie)
The big guy has been a revelation since starting the strength and conditioning programme this season. Has piled on the weight & muscle and is already an early contender for player of the season. Is he a good player or is he just a fraudster….. Not even Colombo could solve that 1!!!
Elliott Reilly (Trigger)
Probably the most intelligent member of the panel and another who has excelled in midfield this season. His world famous drop kick has broken many oppenants hearts. He is a regular on the Dublin social scene and you would be as likely to find him in buckers as you would in panic cinema!!
Brian McCullagh (MC)
The Doc was shipped off 2 wexford this year and has been a huge loss to the panel. A consistent performer for the past 5 years he has not been around as much as he would have liked to due to work, injury and of course his wedding this year. He does however have more free time now 2 plan a venue for this years Xmas party!!
Ian Robertson (Robinson)
Just as soon as we wiped away a few tears after he announced his retirement in Jan he is back in full training a week later. Can operate in midfield or anywhere in the Forward line. The bionic man has more lives than a cat and if he stays fit will be a HUGE player this season!!
Davey Byrne (Bundy)
1 of the hardest men you are likely to meet in senior football and all this despite his obvious like of size. Has been operating as a forward but is equally as capable as a back.
He really isn’t as angry as he makes out.
Has a ready made career in Rally car driving if he ever decides to hang up his boots!!
Emmet Lee (Leezer)
His red knee length hair gives the impression of a rock star more than a footballer but as we all know looks can be deceptive. A 2 footed forward, he is probably 1 of the most accurate forwards in the panel. A role model for the younger lads both on & off the pitch, his value to the team is priceless…..
Darren Ducie (Duke)
Another early season contender for player of the year. His switch to the forward line has brought much needed strength and experience. Will always average 2/3 scores a game. A born leader and a lynch pin for the team. Not a man you would like to meet in a dark alley!!!
Kevin Leahy (Kev)
Has not been around long enough for a nickname but his football skills have already made him 1 of the 1st names on the team sheet. Deadly accurate off both feet, his free taking ability is in the Jonny Wilkinson mould & alone is worth 5/6 scores a game. On current form it won’t be long before he returns to the Dublin senior panel….
Philip O’Dea (The Turtle)
The complete team player both on and off the pitch. Like a fine Chilean red he seems to be getting better with age. His cultured left foot draws many comparisons Ian Harte’s!!
The fact that he is still going is a testament to how well he has looked after himself over the years…A defog starter for the Dubs over 40s in a few years time…
Eddie Christie (Scissors)
After going off the rails over the festive period Eddie is back with a bang. It’s a sign of the character of this young man that after 3 months rehab he has established himself back in the full forward line. Another who is deadly off either foot, not a bad free taker either!!
Ted Furman (FurCoat)
On his day, 1 of the best forwards in Dublin. Has had is problems with injuries of late but when fully fit will feature in the full forward line of most teams. Hard to believe that he is still minor. Should play a big role for Dublin this year….Could have been the next Michael Flately if he didn’t take up football!!
Mark Leahy (Mark)
Like his brother has not been around long enough for a nickname but im sure that will all change soon. Free scoring off both feet, clontarfs loss is defo ballymuns gain. Likes to operate in the half forward line…
Robert Shorthall (Fuse)
This man would be equally as comfortable playing rugby as we would football. On his day he is unmarkable. Power and pace are his main assets. Occasionally throws his rattle out of his pram but off the pitch he tends to relax by reading Shakespeare and listening to classical music. Has a ready made career in the WWE when he retires from football……..
Stephen Condon (Condo)
One of the happiest and most positive thinking lads on the panel, he is Just back from a couple of bad injuries last season and he still hasn’t lost his touch. A predominately left sided player, he always seems to come up with scores every game. Was a big miss last year and will be hoping to make up for it this season….
Declan Sheenen (Sheener)
A former underage star, Declan is back with a bang this season. Has got himself back in shape and that alone is a huge testament to his character. If he can get back to anywhere near his best he will be a huge asset to the forward line…..
Shares in the kebab industry have plummeted since he started his new training regime!!
Patrick Small (Paddy)
Team Mascot Paddy is never seen without a ball in his hand. If half the panel turned up to as many training sessions as he did we would be the fittest team in Ireland!!
He poccess a left foot sharper than philos and a hair cut sharper than robbos.
If he turns out like either god help him….
Point to note – Si Lawlor is currently is Favourite senior player & his famous blue boots are still his most valuable treasure
The Backroom Staff
· Declan Sheenen Senior – The gaffer. A legend in his own right. Brings his vast intercounty experience from his playing days to the panel. No better man to learn from….gave up a career as an Irish balled singer to concentrate on the team! !
· Dermot Leahy -30 pieces of silver was enough to get Dermo to move from clontarf and looks like it was worth every piece. 1 of the best in the business at pole and cone drills…
· Joe Boyne - Another with more drills than black and decker! Has introduced a high intensity warm up before games and another who has intercounty coaching experience.
· Gerry Dolan – Still has Teds gloves after all this time. Gerry is responsible for the “dirty” work nobody sees behind the scenes. Always has ice cool water on hand and is worse than a debt collector when it comes to collecting subs.
· Declan Small – Another who does a lot of work behind the scenes, One can only imagine how big is phone bill is every month!! Many speculate he is only involved to avoid the Wife but her loss is Ballymuns gain……
· Dave Hare – Daft Dave is the panel’s strength and conditioning trainer. He has taken to the panel like a duck to water. When he is not busy selling tiles or playing with his monkey he is up in the gym putting the lads through their paces. His knowledge and expertise is a huge benefit this year. |
